This case study will explore how a beauty and body care brand in South Korea utilized the services provided by Inquivix to facilitate its business goal of increasing the brand’s online visibility and presence. Inquivix applied the best search engine optimization practices for the brand, because of which the brand’s traffic growth increased by 200%. The Background
The client’s company is an online shopping website offering make-up, skincare, haircare, fragrance, and beauty tools, which is a trusted platform in South Korea. The company places high importance on the authenticity of its products and is committed to improving its products and introducing new products that cater to the interests of its consumer base. For the client to reach consumers interested in their products, the client has to be able to drive organic traffic to their website. Having a functional website and good content marketing tools like SEO services is important for the client’s online business because they need them to reach their target audience.
The client company focused its marketing efforts on creating high-quality digital advertisements for their website, social media platforms, television, and other traditional advertising platforms, which had previously resulted in customer acquisition.Despite the good products, the company had been surviving more on reviews, word of mouth, and its own digital marketing.
The Opportunity
The South Korean beauty and body care industry has seen immense growth in recent years, with Korean skincare venturing into the global market and being extremely well received by consumers around the world. The client company’s focus on implementing all the measures they can take to ensure their products are of high quality in all the stores that they have partnered with has made the brand popular for its authenticity. South Korean consumers are extremely concerned about the ingredients they choose to use on their skin and the possible short-term and long-term effects they can have on the longevity of their skin.
Although the client’s company was received well by South Korean consumers, the brand had many competitors, which resulted in the overall market share being distributed majorly to other companies in the niche industry. Providing authentic skincare products with high-quality ingredients is not a unique value proposition in the South Korean skincare market because the majority, if not all, of the major skincare brands in the country are keen on ensuring their products are extremely authentic and backed by skincare research.
The opportunity lay here in promoting the company’s brand further into the Korean community and penetrating the global skincare market because of the high levels of interest in South Korean beauty and body care products. This is where Inquivix was needed to help the client company increase organic traffic by ranking high on popular search engines, mainly Google and Naver (a popular search engine in South Korea).
The Challenge

SEO COMPETITIVE RESEARCH
We laid the groundwork for the client’s SEO requirements by first understanding the client’s competitors. Using competitor analysis, we were able to understand what competitors were doing differently, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. The results showed that our client had a considerable market share, but competitors were favoured because of their successful SEO campaigns and consequently higher search rankings in comparison to our client. We concluded that our client’s website was not utilizing a powerful SEO strategy, unlike its competitors, and that this was significantly impacting their organic traffic growth. Domain Overview
The competitive research was then used to analyze the quality of our client’s domain on the search engine as opposed to their competitors. Domain quality is perceived as highly important by the search engine, with an emphasis on inbound links and the relevant usage of ranking keywords. Our client had a fair usage of ranking keywords, but the results of the backlink analysis showed the client was far behind on the practice of incorporating internal links, which is extremely important for healthy SEO. We further analyzed the website traffic of our clients’ websites versus their competitors’ websites. We noticed more traffic on competitors’ websites that were optimized for search engines in Korea and around the globe. Our client’s website traffic, although considerable, was only a collection of dispersed traffic, not specific to a region in both South Korea and globally. We decided that the best way to get more organic traffic for the client would be to do a lot of research and come up with an SEO strategy that covered all the bases.
Organic Research
Keywords have proven to have a significant impact on driving traffic. We discovered the high-performing keywords of our client’s high ranking competitors on search engines and also understood how these keywords affected search results. The Strategy
The Inquivix team used the evaluation results of the competitor, site, and content research and analysis to formulate a tailored SEO strategy to assist the client’s goal of online visibility and exposure to the target audience of the South Korean and global skincare industry.
